Dr Anja Birkenkämper

Anja advises principals and contractors, investors and lessees on all issues arising under construction, rental and real estate law with respect to contract drafting, contract management and litigious disputes before the courts and arbitral tribunals.

Her key practice areas include advising on real estate projects and transactions (including due diligence), structuring green leases, settling claims in complex construction and plant engineering as well as settling disputes under lease law. She also provides advice on facility management law.

Recent work

• Real estate law advice to the City of Cologne in connection with the “Climate Neutral Cologne 2035” project, in connection with building stock and building management by the municipality
• Advising various market participants in the real estate and construction sector, e.g. in connection with Kö-Bogen II, Düsseldorf and JHQ, Mönchengladbach
• Advising a renowned plant manufacturer specialising in logistics and materials handling technology on contract drafting and project development e.g. for airport expansions and the establishment of distribution centres
• Advice on Real estate law and Construction law to a large German courier company
• Advising an international power plant constructor during the implementation of various major projects, including during contract negotiations and in the management of major claims  
• Contract drafting and management for various mid-sized German construction companies and project developers, e.g. for the construction of new clinics and retirement homes and larger residential construction projects
